The Xwind 200 Crosswind Landing Trainer was born from 4 years of Research and Development with a prototype.
In that research, it was discovered that many pilots need improvement in three areas:
Technical understanding of correct crosswind landing procedures.
Much more crosswind landing practice.
Stronger rudder skills.
Research also revealed that crosswinds are the #1 cause of weather related accidents and gusts are #2 each and every year.
When weather is a factor, crosswinds cause more accidents than fog, thunderstorms, and icing combined!
This simulator is designed to attack the top two causes of weather accidents.
The Xwind 200 Crosswind Trainer is installed and in operation at Sheridan Airport (5I4) and training sessions can be
scheduled on-line
or by calling (317)679-6973. The approximate two-hour syllabus will give the trainee intensive crosswind training at a cost of $210.
A short video showing the history of Xwind and how the Xwind trainer helps improve crosswind skills can be seen above.
